Dumbbell Squat
 |
The DB squat
is an excellent exercise to teach proper squat technique.
It is also an effective exercise by itself or can be used as
a warm-up before heavier lifting.
- Place feet about hip width apart.
- Hold light DB's (5-10lbs) on top of the thighs.
- Think about sticking the butt and chest out.
- Hold this tight position.
|
 |
- Raise arms in front of the body
as you squat.
- Maintain tight upper body with body slightly forward.
- Dumbbells should rise at the same rate that the body
descends.
- Try to get thighs parallel to the floor.
- You should be able to sit back
on the heels. This will work the quads and take
the pressure off the knees.
