Dumbbell Step ups

This is a single leg exercise that can be done almost anywhere.  It is easy to do and very effective.

  • Use a 12"-24" box.
  • Place one foot on top of the box. Use a box size that keeps your thigh lower than parallel to the floor.
  • Hold DB's to the side and keep upper body tall.
  • Think about squeezing the glute of the leg that is on the box before you step.
  • Push down with the foot on the box and step up.
  • Do not push off with the leg that is on the floor. Place back foot on box to balance.
  • Lower yourself back to the floor gently.
  • You can work up to using a box that is high enough so the thigh is parallel to the floor.
